Solaiman<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Malong Weaver<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Her companions being<br \/>\nA backstrap loom,<br \/>\nVibrant filaments of every hue,<br \/>\nThe weaver<br \/>\nConjures magically<br \/>\nThe warp and weft<br \/>\nHanded down<br \/>\nThrough the centuries.<\/p>\n<p>From her deft fingers<br \/>\nAnd the back and forth<br \/>\nOf the strands,<br \/>\nColors, textures,<br \/>\nPatterns, motifs,<br \/>\nSimple and intricate,<br \/>\nSpring forth.<br \/>\nTreasures come into being<br \/>\nWhether it be<br \/>\nA<em> landap<\/em> for a sultan,<br \/>\nOr the rare <em>andon<\/em> for a bai a labi,<br \/>\nPerhaps an <em>ampik<\/em> for everyday.<\/p>\n<p>From dawn to dusk<br \/>\nSitting at the weaving-frame<br \/>\nShe basks in the mastery<br \/>\nOf\u00a0 her craft.<br \/>\nThe loom<br \/>\nMaking the same music<br \/>\nHer forbears had played,<br \/>\nHer creations meant to stand<br \/>\nThe test of time.<br \/>\nShe weaves<br \/>\nThe song of her people.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rock Garden<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>My soul dwells in a place<br \/>\nSo secure,<br \/>\nThat if you hurl<br \/>\nBoulders of hatred,<br \/>\nCobbles of insults,<br \/>\nPebbles of spite,<br \/>\nThese will just drop in vain,<br \/>\nOn the grassy courtyard.<br \/>\nLike stray cannon balls.<\/p>\n<p>Do come again<br \/>\nFor the next round.<br \/>\nBy that time,<br \/>\nYou will not miss<br \/>\nSeeing that<br \/>\nYour debris of strife<br \/>\nJust made a beautiful rock garden<br \/>\nOut of the rubble.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jahara A.
