(Sinama-Simunul original poetry)<\/p>\n

Mili ma jambatan,
\nnengge kami tallungan,
\nnakat kappar
\ntudju ni Sambuwangan.
\nDasehean\u2019 baanan aa sukudan:
\nmag usaha,
\nmag pasiyar,
\nsaga mag tulak ni pangiskulan.<\/p>\n

Pag soddop mata ullow,
\nputput atiyup, \u201cToot-Toot!\u201d
\nsinyas kappar sekot na pasuhut.
\nAngalembe, anakkop, abehot;
\nlamud na galak maka susa,
\npasal magokat na,
\npalakkat na min bihing bey katanaman.<\/p>\n

Taabutan kami ma tangnga sallang tonga bahangi,
\nni turul sahaya bulan maka mamahi.
\nSaga aa halam magtuli,
\nsakahaba kasangoman,
\nmagsuli-suli.<\/p>\n

Subu pabuka\u2019, paanda kalibutan.
\n\u201cMinga na kita bi tongod?\u201d,
\npanilow ku ni pagbalik-balikan,
\nni sussa ya baanan lahat talabayan,
\nsi ngissa si Inah ya Bud Duwa Bullud,
\npatanna sekot ni pu\u2019 Basilan.<\/p>\n

Teybaliyu warta bilu,
\nmaka tahik landu tallak
\nagon tapatandingan ku;
\nminsan aku minga-minga katudju,
\ntatau ku sigam tahun labey tahun masi takila ku.<\/p>\n

Maingkan sallang landu lawak na
\nmaka sollog palaran mbal niya hondongan na;
\nwaktu maglabey,
\nginisan kappar ma tahik iti magsulabey.
\nSabannarna talow aku labbey,
\nni gawi ku mba aku makasempey.<\/p>\n

Pagtulak bey ni pagbeyaan
\nminaan ma jambatan mba na bey kabalikan.
\nPandang mata ku na ya taytayan,
\nnunggu duwa alam.<\/p>\n

Tiyup-tiyup baliyu,
\nma kuwit ku patapu,
\npangentoman bey tagna\u2019 si lae pabayang ma aku.
\nSaddopan mata ullow maka timpu bey dahu,
\ndasali du ni kabayaan le\u2019 ku.<\/p>\n

A Small Boat Floating
\n<\/strong>English Translation<\/em><\/p>\n

At the dock,
\nstood the three of us,
\nboarding a ship
\nbound for Zamboanga.
\nAmong us were fortunate individuals:
\nsome seeking livelihood,
\nothers on vacation,
\nand those pursuing their education.<\/p>\n

As the sun dipped below the horizon,
\nthe ship’s horn blared, “Toot-toot!”
\nsignaling its imminent departure.
\nThere were waves, hugs, and the struggle of heavy luggage;
\nexcitement mingled with worry,
\nthe fear of separation,
\nof being adrift from familiar shores.<\/p>\n

We reached midnight in the middle of the sea,
\nguided by the moonlight and stars.
\nMany could not sleep,
\nand the night was spent
\nexchanging stories.<\/p>\n

Dawn broke, revealing the landscape.
\n“Where are we?”
\nI repeatedly asked,
\ncurious about the islands we had passed.
\nInah<\/em> would recount the tale of Bud Duwa Bullud,
\nnear the island of Basilan, where it stood.<\/p>\n

The sky was blue,
\nAnd the water so clear,
\nI could almost see my reflection appear;
\nno matter where my journey may steer,
\nI would recognize them, year after year.<\/p>\n

Yet, the ocean is vast,
\nwith its ceaseless currents;
\ntime had marched on,
\nwith different ships traversing these waters.
\nHonestly, I am scared I might stray,
\nfearing that I will never reach my way.<\/p>\n

The journey we once shared on this dock
\nwould never be replicated.
\nMy eyes beheld the bridge,
\nconnecting two distinct realities.<\/p>\n

The wind,
\ncaressing my skin,
\nawakened a flood of memories within.
\nSunsets and the days that have passed,
